Floor
Carvings
On
the floor of the hall Halldór carved signs to depict the
life of his parents. He used Chinese, Egyptian and Nordic signs.
The
black line is a Chinese idea, the sign of the turtoise and stands
for happiness and longevity. The meaning of the signs starting
from the doorway to the middle of the room is as follows:
1.
The first one is a Chinese sign and stands for masculine and feminine
(YANG and YIN)
2.
The Zodiac signs for Leo and Scorpio.
3.
A Nordic sign for admiration. (MINNA)
4.
From the Egypts and stands for union. (SMÁ)
5.
Also Egyptian, stands for home and family. (MENAT)
6.
The shovel is the sign of the farm people.
7.
The beer, sign of labor and diligence.
8.
A Nordic sign standing for loyalty. (TYR)
9.
Sign of stability. (TET OF OSIRIS)
10.
Finally a Nordic sign for death. The two dots mean that both these
people have died.
